Let me first start off with saying that I immigrated to Canada a few years ago. I learned to play guitar when I was 10 and it has been one of the few hobbies that I've ever stuck with. Needless to say, when I moved, I needed something to mark the special event with.
And what better way to do so than to pick up a very special Canadian themed guitar?
Here it is - The 1958 Gibson Les Paul Standard Historic Reissue Canadian Limited Edition Mapleburst #74 of 75.
I got it from my friend, Mike - the former guitarist of the band Birds of Wales and now in The Reason.
The guitar also came with a bottle of special maple syrup!
It is one of the best guitars I have played. Being in my early twenties, yes, I have played a lot! Weighing in at 9.5 lbs, the guitar is a tad on the heavy side, but the tone it produces is just oh so sweet. It can sound anywhere from raw and punchy to mellow and sweet depending on the pick attack. I won't mention the upgrades as everything has been changed - both hardware and electronics.
It currently has a pair of Wizz Premium PAF pickups and an RS Vintage Wiring harness. With this combination, the guitar became very dynamic and responsive to the way you play!
With the upgrades, the guitar will not be that desirable to collectors; this guitar is mine to keep. The sentimental value attached to it is worth far more than its price.
Sound clips to come very soon, so stay tuned!
